Casa El Barranco is an historic house located in the peaceful village of Los Valles, barely a 5 minute drive from Lanzarote’s ancient capital, Teguise. A 280 m2 property, standing in a plot of land of 9.000 m2, is divided into three spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a long gallery overlooking a beautiful Canarian patio that gets sun from dawn to dusk. An impressive wooden ceiling and magnificent thick walls, not only give the house a rustic feeling, but also allows for maintaining a comfortable temperature both in summer and winter. Nevertheless, the property is fitted with inverter air-conditioning systems in both double-bedrooms and the living room, that can both cool on the warmest days or heat on the coldest days of the year. It is also equipped with a security alarm, a Smart TV with IPTV and Netflix, optic-fibre Internet and WiFi coverage, and private parking for cars as well as bicycles.
Upon entering the house, you access the south-facing gallery with large windows that communicates most of the rooms and fills with light most corners of the property. To the right, you will find the spacious and nicely decorated master bedroom, equipped with a large double bed and en-suite bathroom. To the left, the gallery will take you to the living- and dining room, equipped with tasteful and quality furniture. Continuing, you will find elegant wooden stairs that lead to the cosy upstairs bedroom, which hosts two twin beds. On the western side of the gallery, there is a fully equipped kitchen with a comfortable seating area for six people, and right after a rustic-looking bathroom with a skylight and an ample shower beside an old fireplace. The Canarian patio, that hosts a terrace table perfect for al-fresco dinner, can be accessed comfortably from two separately located doors. From the fabulous interior patio you can enter the third bedroom which also has its own en-suite bathroom.
Right beside the house, an 8 x 4 metre pool surrounded by a beautiful garden with grass and a decades-old hedge, is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The pool has a thermal cover and a heat pump that will allow the water to be warm even during the colder winter days. A shower, sunbeds, and a terrace table all nested under a wide pergola that shelters the whole area, with the undisturbed south-facing views of the valley, will ensure that this spot will be a tough competition against the urge to visit the outstanding landscape that surrounds the property.
For a restaurant you do not necessarily have to get in the car; there is a nice eatery at a 5 minute walk from Casa El Barranco. If you like cycling, the hilly surroundings are a mecca for you. Trekking couldn’t be any better, with the highest peak of the island, Las Peñas del Chache, barely a 4 km walk from the house. Other favourites with the locals are the Barranco de Tenegüime and the impressive Volcán de la Corona (Crown’s volcano), easily reachable from Los Valles. For a beach day you can go to Costa Teguise or Arrieta, both just under a 20 minute drive away. Should you want to try surfing or kitesurfing, the beach of Famara is the ideal spot for these activities, and it’s also just over a 15 minute drive away.
