2 Bedroom House in Santo Domingo, Garafía
The typical historic Canarian farmhouse 'Finca' built of natural stone, with 110 square metres of living space, 360 metres above sea level, is situated on the edge of a unique nature reserve 'Galguen' not far from the village of Santo Domingo. Around the house there are sunny terraces for relaxing, sunbathing and eating. The property is beautifully landscaped with Canarian palm trees and flowers. All the floors and ceilings of the house are made of tea (precious Canarian pine wood). The master bedroom has a double bed with sea view and balcony, the second bedroom has a view of the Barranco and the mountains. The living room has a wood-burning stove, satellite TV and a sofa bed. The bathroom has underfloor heating, a bathtub and a glass roof. The large eat-in kitchen with dishwasher, gas cooker, oven, fridge and a cosy sitting area invites you to eat and linger. The finca (farmhouse) is situated on the edge of the Barranco Catela (ravine) and offers a marvellous panoramic view of the coast and the pine forests of the mountains. From the house you can start the most beautiful hikes directly on old footpaths and visit the prehistoric caves of Cueva del Agua. The walk to the sea takes 30 minutes and leads to the natural beach of Callejoncito. Around the house grow subtropical plants such as palm trees, dragon trees, olives, citrus, mangoes, papayas, guavas, almonds, figs and much more, which are offered by the owner. We are happy to bake an organic rye/spelt sourdough bread for you with our own almonds and also supply fresh goat's milk/cheese, vegetables and fruit from the region. You can also order dinner on request. Once a week the fisherman Don Ramon delivers fresh sea fish. The holiday house is surrounded by a 10000 square metre garden. The landlord lives permanently in a separate building on the property. There are olive trees, citrus trees and various tropical fruit trees. The finca made of lava stone and teak (Canary pine) has been renovated by the landlord over many years with great attention to detail. Many materials were recycled, specially selected and processed during the renovation: Red clay earth for paints, old wood for furniture and supporting structures, as well as red tiles, which used to be fired directly on site for roofing. The following are available for use: parasol, sun lounger and garden furniture. Hammock. The landlords offer guided hikes on site.
