Summary: The apartment was clean and simple with modern appliances. The host had someone waiting for me when I arrived. There is a grocery store right across the street and it was about an 8 minute walk to the convention center (down 2-3 long blocks) which was a perfect way to start the day before the conference. There is a lap pool but it was closed because of the season. You cannot go directly down to a beach because there is an outdoor activity (skateboarding, etc.) park near the water and a harbor, but there is a walkway parallel to the water's edge and it looks like beaches are not far. Because it was winter, I didn't spend time finding a nearby beach but walked the beaches in Barceloneta. The apartment is at the northern edge of Barcelona, so not in the center, but it was just what I needed for the conference and 0.6 km from the metro and right next to a tram line so lots of public transportation options to get around town. Barcelona was lovely!
