Summary: Property was magnificent for views! Nestled in the mountains. The house was lovely, charming and beautifully decorated. However, the most important stipulation for renting it for us was that it had a washer and dryer listed on the website. The dryer was a rack dryer that you put outside in the sun. With 11 people that turned out to be a great inconvenience. We also didn’t know that the host family lived right above us and the 2nd apartment was directly above the hosts living quarters. The website stated a modest breakfast each morning but the hosts had discontinued that for this year due to remodeling of the facility. We were not told that either., just that there was no breakfast. There are no screens on the windows so we had an abundance of flies, bees or hornets along with moths. I recommend screens be put on windows because you needed to open windows for a breeze. No fans were available and the weather was quite warm the first week. We stayed 19 days . Also, you need to supply everything, from salt and pepper, soap for bathing, all condiments, coffee, sugar, etc. the hosts had zero supplies except for toilet paper that we resupplied. Also, since we flew we left behind food and supplies. I purchased the known for ham and thought I could take it on the plane since it was still vacuum sealed but customs confiscated it. They did let the cheese and olive oil pass, however. The host family was very nice and accommodating, very warm and friendly people. We had an extraordinary time but feel the website should be updated so folks know exactly what is expected . The town of Betelu is 2 kilometers away and the grocery store is limited in both merchandise and hours open. It closed at 1 pm and you never knew if it was going to open after siesta time or not. If you’re looking for peace and serenity this place is magnificent. If you have teenagers you’ll be driving a lot to keep them entertained. 45 minutes to Pamplona, 1 1/2 hrs. To San Sebastián. We had a wonderful time exploring Spain for 3 weeks and used Betelu as our home base to come back to nightly. I felt completely safe and relaxed there.
